I saw this recent news item on television. Either CNN-IBN or Times-Now. It seems the IPL season has hit the profits of the Bollywood films releasing during the same period. Tashan, Race,Krazzy4 are all flops and there are directors postponing their film releases, to avoid clashing with the IPL season.
Ditto the case with TV serials . SRK's much awaited 'Kya Aap Panchvi pass se tez hain?' has taken the hit as indicated by the slump in TRP ratings, just as is the case with other reigning soaps.
What could be the reason for this? Yes, the short format of the game has viewers hooked. Also, since it has teams within India competing against each other(with a lot of International players playing alonside Indian cricketers),it has further piqued the interest of cricket fans. Also, the glamour quotient can never be sidelined. This DLF IPL has brought together the film fraternity and the cricketing community. So, there is something for everyone.
Also, most of the films that flopped were damp squibs anyway. A good movie will always have people thronging the theatres or atleast appreciating it, irrespective of extraneous factors.

IPL is loosing TRP thats what i last heard ...
Is it?That's news. Either because it's getting too monotonous or because the foreign players are no longer there.
But since the finals are nearing, I thought things would pick up more.
IPL is indeed losing TRP because the recent matches were dull and there were no big scoring and on top of that there were series of blasts in Jaipur which the turned the attention of many towards that.
Yes, probably. But why would the Jaipur blasts affect IPL viewership.
Its not like ppl are going to watch the Jaipur related news, instead of the cricket matches.
Simple. Everyone watch IPL for their favorite players from different country and since those foreign players are missing currently,it loses its TRP.
nothing can stop the craze of cricket in india.so, i dont think so ipl has gone done, may be it lacks the intial score it gained ,but still i see people come in large...
yes,ipl has hit certain films badly, even dasavatharam is postponed
beacause of this....
